a little vmware rescue
Yesterday I had to do a little rescue operation when a move between datastores went wrong. During one of the steps the VM's .vmx file went missing. Although I have a theory for what happend, I still have to do some research. In any case, I couldn't add it to the inventory let alone start the VM without this file. For brief a moment some panic came to me, as this VM, being one of the last of a series of moves, it was the most business critical as well, a MySQL server with several databases.
Some (pfSense) Tunneling
It has been a while since I posted anything ICT related, or anything else for that matter. Time to make a new start. Recently I came across a challenge and with some collective thinking came with a solution. Perhaps there's another way, if so just let me know I'm always willing to learn. I've done a lot of googling in search of answers and solution to my problems, with this walkthrough I hope I'll help somebody else. In any case I had this Eureka moment, started bouncing like Tigger and realised now I'll have to make some documentation and almost started dreading this inevitable part of my daytime job. But then I thought to my self, lets make a blogpost and really share it.
